About Timber Raised Pork

We Call Our Pigs Timber Raised Pork Because We Finish Them In The

Woods

We started raising pigs because we have nine grandchildren seven of which are boys and they eat like… well you know… So we purchased four sows and one boar from a farmer who has been raising these pigs using the protocols that meet our standards.

The breed is Gloustershire Old Spot, which is a heritage breed, developed in Ireland, known for its superior eating qualities.

We move the pigs frequently so they always have a clean environment. That way the parasites don’t have a host to sustain their existance  and create problems. As the result we don’t give our pigs medication and antibiotics and the pigs develop natural immunities.

We finish them in the woods and that’s why we call them “Timber Raised Pork”. They enjoy living in the woods and moving to a new area every three or four days. They do what pigs naturaly do; go about their lives and enjoy being happy pigs.

You will see the difference when you visit the farm. The life of an industrial raised pig is quite different. If you want to know how industrial pigs are raised just go to Google and find out. You’ll quickly see that eating pork from our farm is a good decision.
